In 1996 the Archaeologists found concrete proof of the ancient sites name Ekron.  The author of this slab of identifies himself as "ikausi son of Padi, rule of Ekron.  This slab was found on the Shephelan plain.  Ekron was one of the 5 cities of the Phhilistine pentapolis name in the Bible (Joshua 13:3)
